RESHARED FROM ONLINE:
I’ve been a manager for almost six years. I always thought I was fair. Maybe a bit strict, but fair. Rules are rules, right? If I start making exceptions, where does it end?
That’s what I told myself when I fired Celia last week.
It was her third tardy this month.
Policy says three strikes—you’re out.
She didn’t argue. Just nodded, picked up her bag, and left.

Change is often regarded as a storm to be navigated. The prevailing thought is to "push through" and to save as much as possible so we can continue to do things the way we've always done them.
But what if the storm or change was meant to teach us what's working and what isn't?
Things, people and systems are not tested when things are working well. They are tested in adversity and times of challenge.
That's the true measure of what's sound and solid and what isn't and needs to be improved or released.
If it doesn't hold firm in the midst of the storm; it wasn't strong enough. Time to create something better.
This is a great metaphor 🌧️ and, as a lens on change, is inviting introspection 🤔 This is good 💡!
